Science & Living Math (11:00am-12:30pm)

Required Textbook: None, however you may want to purchase the MasterBooks curriculum to follow along but we will be covering everything in class!

Course Description

Science: This two-year program will help introduce and reinforce a love for learning all things science! We will be following the book Life for Beginners which will touch on concepts such as plants, the human body and animals.

Year 2 (26/27) will be following the book, Life for beginners which will touch on concepts such as weather/water, earth science, and astronomy.

Living Math: This will incorporate math concepts into everyday life. We will be learning the calendar, adding, subtracting, sequencing through stories, shape application, measuring. This is not meant to replace a math curriculum. It is meant to enhance and pinpoint ways God has designed our world with math throughout our daily lives.

Classroom Work: Weekly in-class experiments, crafts, and games to reinforce the lesson concepts and instill a love for scientific research. In addition to the science aspect, students will be doing weekly math activities. There will be an emphasis on classroom etiquette and behavior so that students can begin learning how to function and participate respectfully in the classroom setting.

Homework:  Weekly homework assignments that relate to the material covered in class to include worksheets, simple experiments, and games to reinforce math.

Prerequisites: Kindergarten students must by 5 by August 31. First grade students must be 6 by August 31.
