Course Description

Literature: Assigned reading will include a variety of quality classic and modern literature with a focus on close reading and analysis rather than just comprehension. In-class activities will include large and small group discussions, as well as group projects.

Writing: Students will have regular writing assignments with a strong emphasis on the writing process, receiving both teacher and peer feedback throughout. Students will develop their literary analysis skills, as well as expand on their research writing skills.

Homework: There will be weekly writing and literature assignments. Students should come to class prepared to participate in literature discussions and to read their writing assignments to the class. There will be occasional book reports, projects, quizzes, and tests.
